According to the other point of view, the down country MTB category was created precisely because in the midst of increasingly difficult competition conditions, flatter angles are needed, longer spring travel and a greater degree of stability are not disadvantages.
We consider any of them relevant, which is certain that down country is some kind of improved version of the cross country MTB category. Compared to an XC mountain bike, we can find here a longer spring travel (usually 120 mm), a longer chain fork, and flatter angles.
