Carbon fiber fabrics can be classified in two ways. One method is based on weave density and type: there are classic woven fabrics (e.g., 1K, 3K, 12K) and unidirectional (UD) fabrics, which are not woven.
The other classification criterion is whether the carbon fiber fabric is high-modulus, high-strength, or highly resilient. The former are very stiff and lightweight, while the latter are extremely resilient and more flexible. It is impossible to build a lightweight, stiff frame suitable for high-level racing without predominantly using the former type! Conversely, frame manufacturing could not exist without the latter.

The Wilier Urta Hybrid frame is constructed from HUS-MOD + High Impact Carbon Weave ultra-high-modulus carbon. The head tube angle is sufficiently slack to provide geometry perfectly suited for descents, while the climbing performance is superb—aided, of course, by the motor assistance. The front fork offers 120 mm of travel, making the bike absolutely capable of all-mountain riding.
